The weather must have me staring out the window when I have to be inside because both my windows got the treatments this week. The main window is now the center of the "living room" and the kitchen window got a make over.
A few weeks ago I found a project on Apartment Therapy for window treatments using painter's tape. The picture was amazing, so it was quickly pinned on my Pinterest account. It only sat there for a couple of weeks before I got it together and did the project! (Unlike most of my pins, which might never be completed. Oh well.)
When I moved in I put up cream curtains in the kitchen pretty quickly. It can be somewhat startling when you're walking around and someone is all of a sudden walking by your kitchen window. So that was a priority. I had plans to spruce up those curtains, but they were always in the way. My drying utensils were always tucked behind them, and moving the curtains could cause the silverware holder to fall into the sink. The curtains kind of reminded me of when your bangs get too long and are in your face.
I was a little nervous that it would come out crooked or uneven or just plain weird. So, I crossed my fingers, made some elementary measurements and started taping.
Yes, that is another slide in the backyard. Behind it is the batting cage, which is next to the trampoline.
Is it strange that I started this in daylight and it is completely dark by the time I got the second layer up? I was measuring really carefully....
The third layer made it start looking interesting.
I was so pleased when I realized the final layer really pulled it together and gave me exactly what I had been looking for.
I am addicted to the design that emerged. I love the little stars.
The real treat came when I got up this morning. It looks so lacy with the sunlight shining through.
I literally can't stop looking at it. There really isn't too much traffic in the back of the house, so this feels like it gives privacy but still lets in so much light.
And I know longer have to push away those annoying curtain bangs. Now I know what utensils are drying up there. And don't they just look so happy to be sitting next to the window like that?
